Presenting the Formation and Collaboration of the Obesity Youth Panel at the 2023 RCSI Research Day

RCSI Research Day was a great opportunity for researchers at RCSI to present their recent findings and to display the exciting range of work being conducted at RCSI. There were presentations ranging from early-career researchers to more seasoned and experienced researchers.

Tofunmi presented in the undergraduate oral presentation session. Following Tofunmi’s presentation, there were several insightful questions regarding the formation, initial proceedings and parental involvement of the youth panel.

Throughout the RCSI Research Day, Public Patient Involvement (PPI) was greatly emphasised as a vital aspect of health and social care research to ensure that the perspectives and needs of patients are incorporated into the research process in substantial ways. Establishing the youth panel created the opportunity for youth to empower themselves and have a voice in the LANDSCAPE Project. This was carefully incorporated into the design, methods and dissemination of this research and was reflected in the abstract submission and oral presentation of this topic.

Subsequently, Tofunmi was awarded the PPI in Research Award on behalf of the LANDSCAPE Collaborator team. Well done Tofunmi!
